About Zvi Aharon
I paint out of feeling rather than planning. The image reveals itself during the work, not before it.
The path to painting
Painting entered my life as a way of coping with a difficult period. It did not begin as a career or as formal study, but as a need to give room to what is hard to say in words. Over time that need became a language of its own.
I work mainly on watercolor paper, in acrylic, watercolor and mixed media. The formats are relatively small, which lets me work continuously, without breaks, until a piece finishes itself.
Between painting and photography
Alongside painting, I photograph. Photography is the other side of the same attention: in painting the form rises from within, while in photography it already exists in the world and only waits for someone to stop and see it. The two feed each other.
