Birth of the Phoenix

Birth of the Phoenix is an intuitive, expressive work by Israeli artist Zvi Aharon, painted in acrylic on watercolor paper at 30 × 50 cm. The painting moves between figuration and abstraction: out of layered movement in blue, red, white and green, a figure appears as though it is forming inside a storm. The image was not planned in advance — gesture, colour and emotion came first, and the figure emerged during the act of painting itself. It is one of the central works in the artistic language Aharon developed: painting made during a period of difficulty and renewal, in which a presence of life and hope remains even inside the turbulence.
